Bill is a senior operating executive with more than 30 years of experience in hardware, software, and services. He is an expert in storage management and networking hardware and software, and specializes in “B to B to C” business strategy formulation, solution architecture, development, positioning, and marketing. He is also highly skilled at partnership creation and business development strategies.
Bill is the founder of CustiMAX Embedded Solutions, which provides services for product designers and manufacturers, service providers, wireless operators, go-to-market organizations, and large enterprises targeting consumer and industrial markets.
At Symantec, Bill was Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the company’s consumer business. He was responsible for development of the division’s long-term strategic and fiscal year operating plans as well as formulation and execution of the business expansion plan. Previously, Bill led business development for Symantec’s storage and desktop management business.
Bill joined Symantec with its acquisition of PowerQuest, where he was Senior Vice President of OEM Partnerships and Business Development. Before that, Bill founded ManagedStorage International, Inc., a storage managed service provider serving the Global 1000 market, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to building ManagedStorage, Bill was Vice President and General Manager of StorageTek's Storage Management Software Business Group, where he helped create new storage management software systems and solutions based on Storage Area Networking infrastructures.
Earlier in his career, Bill was awarded U. S. Patent 4,755,928 for his work on Outboard Backup and Recovery, which provided the foundation for today's storage networked based and online back-up architectures.
Bill received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado. He is a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
