John brings extensive experience to the topics of technology strategy, architecture and execution having served in both senior operating and advisory roles.  John has served as a Chief Technology Officer and in similar capacities for large global companies including TransUnion, Cap Gemini, AXIS Capital and Ernst & Young Consulting.

At AXIS Capital, John was an SVP leading the Global Enterprise Program Management organization.  Prior to AXIS, John was Group VP and CTO for TransUnion LLC, a global leader in credit and information management.  He had responsibility for the strategy, architecture and standards for global computing, storage and network infrastructure, as well as investments in high availability, security and continuity for TransUnion’s systems and services.  Earlier in his career, John served as CTO for CapGemini Americas and was a senior partner at Ernst & Young Consulting in the UK and US, filling client service and practice management roles as well as serving as global CIO.  Prior to E&Y he was the COO of a specialist systems integrator in the health informatics industry, responsible for the successful delivery of over $1bn in large scale projects in the Middle East, Europe and US. He started his career in planning and strategy for the UK NHS.

John has a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Information Sciences from Exeter University in the UK. He has written five books on software development and wrote the Strong Signals column for CIO Insight for several years. He has delivered over 50 conference papers and has been published in HBR and the Wall Street Journal. An example of his work as a solution architect is included in the Computerworld Smithsonian Collection. In 2003 he was named as one of the world’s 25 most influential consultants. In 2005 he was named as one of the Computerworld 100 Leaders in IT.

John currently provides business, technology and operational strategy advice to a range of global businesses and works with PE investors to select, improve and monetize portfolio companies through ParkWood Advisors, which he founded in 2005.  John acts as an independent director for two private companies and as an advisory board member for an additional public company. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife and teenage daughter.
