John is a highly experienced executive whose career spans sales, service, and consulting. He brings a unique combination of technology understanding and strategic insight in working with his clients to achieve superior business results. John has extensive experience working outside the US, including assignments in China, Singapore, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, and Canada. During his career, he has helped companies improve financial results and business performance through IT and business transformation, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring.
John was a Managing Director in IBM’s Sales group, responsible for managing the Lenovo account in Beijing and, later, the Philips account in Amsterdam. In these roles he managed the worldwide sales teams responsible for IBM’s hardware, software, and services. In addition, he was responsible for service quality for consulting and outsourcing services on his accounts.
Previously, John spent 20 years in strategy consulting. At IBM, he was the practice leader for the Electronics Industry and the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. During this time he acquired and integrated IBM’s first SaaS-based software business, driving it to profitable growth. Prior to IBM’s acquisition of PWC Consulting in 2002, John was a partner at PWC with responsibility for managing its High Tech Industry and Strategic Change practices.
John earned an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and an AB cum laude in Economics from Occidental College. John and his wife Susan have four children. He is a competitive triathlete and has been actively involved in Little League Baseball, youth sports leagues, and Boy Scouts for more than 20 years.
